Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is one of the busiest areas in Metro Manila. It serves as a major economic hub, attracting thousands of workers, tourists, shoppers, and food enthusiasts daily. Given its vibrant atmosphere, BGC has implemented strict traffic rules and regulations to maintain order and ensure smooth transportation flow.

BGC Promotes a Pedestrian-Friendly City

BGC prioritizes pedestrian safety and smooth traffic flow by enforcing strict rules against obstructions. Violating these rules may result in a ticket, confiscation of licenses, or towing of vehicles. Visit BGCity Rules to know more.

Number Coding Scheme in BGC

Just like the whole City of Taguig, BGC is generally exempt from Metro Manila's Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), commonly known as the "number coding scheme." This means that vehicles can travel freely within BGC even on their coded days during usual coding hours. However, there are important exceptions to keep in mind.

BGC is not covered by the number coding scheme: Vehicles may enter and move within BGC without restrictions, even if their plate number is subject to coding elsewhere in Metro Manila.

Be cautious when traveling via EDSA-Kalayaan Road:
  • Kalayaan Road is part of Taguig City.

  • Taguig does not have window hours, meaning coded vehicles cannot pass through Kalayaan Road during restricted hours.

General Number Coding Hours in Metro Manila:
  • Morning: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Afternoon/Evening: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Window Hours:
  • Most cities in Metro Manila allow window hours (10:01 AM - 4:59 PM), during which coded vehicles can travel freely.

  • Taguig City has no window hours, so coded vehicles cannot enter restricted roads at any time during the coding period.

Major Roads Covered by the Number Coding Scheme:
  • EDSA
  • C5
  • C6
  • South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
  • Shaw Boulevard
  • Roxas Boulevard
  • Ortigas Avenue
  • Marcos Highway

Expressways Excluded from the Number Coding Scheme:
  • North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)
  • South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
  • NAIA Expressway (NAIAX)
  • Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX)
  • Metro Manila Skyway System

Just like other areas in Metro Manila, expect heavy traffic flow in BGC especially during rush hour

Conclusion

BGC's traffic rules and coding exemptions help maintain a smooth and pedestrian-friendly environment. While BGC itself is free from the number coding restrictions, travelers must be aware of nearby areas like Makati City and Pasig City, where stricter rules apply. By adhering to these regulations, motorists can avoid penalties and contribute to a more organized road system.
