History

SRCCMSTHS was established to provide free and quality science and technology education to deserving students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiative was spearheaded by Congressman Alan Peter Cayetano through House Bill No. 4448, introduced on February 21, 2002. The school was originally named Taguig-Pateros Science & Technology High School.

On September 4, 2002, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed for the allocation of a 5,000-square-meter area in Pamayanang Diego Silang for the school site. With the strong support of the late Senator Renato "Compañero" Cayetano, the school was equipped with facilities, including a perimeter fence and multiple four-story buildings.

The Department of Education (DepEd) officially approved the establishment of the school on September 21, 2004. The first entrance examination for incoming students was conducted in December 2004, with 146 students successfully passing the rigorous selection process.

In June 2005, the school officially started operations under the leadership of its first Officer-in-Charge, George P. Tizon. It was later renamed to honor Senator Renato "Compañero" Cayetano, recognizing his contributions to education and public service.
