The vibrant celebration of the Feast of Saint Anne, known locally as the Pista ng Santa Ana, alongside the Taguig River Festival, brought the community of Brgy. Santa Ana to life.

Feast of Saint Anne

This annual event, celebrated every July 26th, was led by Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and marked another year of tradition, faith, and festivity.

Santa Ana, one of the oldest barrios in Taguig established in 1587, saw its streets and the banks of the Taguig River filled with joyous residents and visitors alike. The festivities, sponsored by the City Government of Taguig and organized by the local Catholic Church, began and ended safely, joyously, and colorfully.

The celebration kicked off with a solemn mass at the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of St. Anne, reflecting the deep-rooted faith of the community. Following the religious rites, the vibrant parade along the river featured decorated boats and floats, paying homage to the barrio’s heritage and its patron saint, Saint Anne.

As part of the celebration of the Taguig River Festival and in honor of the City's patron saint, the City of Taguig and the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of St. Anne held the Pagoda sa Ilog followed by the Pagoda sa Daan on Friday, July 26.

Due to recent rains causing the water level in the Taguig River to rise, the route of the Pagoda sa Ilog was shortened, and the number of participants was limited to ensure everyone's safety. However, the celebration continued in full swing on the streets.

A Festival of Colors, Music, and Traditions

The Pagoda sa Ilog featured beautifully decorated boats, including a special float carrying the image of St. Anne, designed by local fisherfolk, their families, and various community groups.

The vibrant celebration transformed Taguig into a festival of colors, music, and traditions. After the fluvial parade moved through the river, the streets came alive with the Pagoda sa Daan. People lined the roads, eagerly awaiting the procession.

Traditional "pasubo" rituals saw participants exchanging fruits and native delicacies as a symbol of generosity. The streets echoed with laughter, music, and a strong sense of community.

Honoring St. Anne

The Taguig River Festival is annually celebrated alongside the Feast of Saint Anne, the patron saint of Taguig. This festival is a way for the Taguigeños to express their gratitude to the saint for the blessings received over the past year. Apart from the festivities in the afternoon, the city of Taguig also honored St. Anne with a Pontifical Mass and Parangal kay Poong Ana as part of its celebration.

Reflections and Gratitude

Mayor Lani Cayetano, in her address, emphasized the importance of such cultural and religious festivities in fostering unity and preserving the rich heritage of Taguig. She thanked the community for their active participation and highlighted the city's commitment to supporting and promoting local traditions.

The Taguig River Festival and the Feast of Saint Anne are more than just annual events; they are a testament to the enduring faith, resilience, and spirit of the people of Taguig. As smiles and heartfelt thanks were seen and heard throughout the day, the celebration concluded with everyone looking forward to next year’s festivities, continuing the tradition of honoring their patron saint and their beloved barrio.
