Mayor Lani Cayetano took center stage at the Senator Rene Compañero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School (SRCCMSTHS) on Thursday, October 27, leading a significant vegetable harvest at the school's urban farm.

This event highlighted Taguig's dedication to sustainable, organic urban farming as a crucial component of the city's food security strategy.

The SRCCMSTHS urban farm, spanning 800 square meters, is the latest addition to Taguig's network of urban farms, making it the eighth site established within the city's schools.

The farm is a state-of-the-art facility, featuring hydroponics, aquaponics, a greenhouse, and various gardens.

These advanced agricultural techniques allow for the cultivation of a diverse array of vegetables, root crops, gourds, beans, and spices.

The produce harvested from this farm supports several city programs, including Urban Farming Seminars, the Taguig Love Caravan, and Dietary Supplementation initiatives. These programs aim to educate the community about sustainable farming practices, provide fresh produce for health missions, and enhance the overall nutritional intake of residents.

The city of Taguig actively encourages residents to establish their own urban farms, promoting a healthy, farm-to-table lifestyle. Through various initiatives and support programs, the local government provides resources and training to help residents set up and maintain their urban gardens.
